Season Wrap up (May 2007)

i was going through the depressing procedure of unloading the sled from my truck in 70 something degree heat this afternoon and realized that i have been slacking in the update department, so i figured it best that i should get on that. i'm not absolutely sure where i left everyone hanging, but i'm thinking it was around the beginning of march, so i guess i'll take it back to then:

evo seattle (my shop sponsor) put together a team, including myself, for the northwest regional Helly Hansen shop battle, which we ended up winning and were granted a trip to Copper Mtn, Colorado for the finals. oddly enough the qualifiers at stevens pass consisted of a slopestle/jib setup while the finals were my least prominent discipline (along with the rest of the evo team); superpipe. with that being said we decided the trip was to be purely for entertainment value and it served it's purpose.

while on the subject of competing, Mt. Baker put together a jib jam of sorts their closing weekend and after a solid session in the 60 degree heat i came out with a silver...not bad considering our park has been buried all winter.

on a more exciting note (at least for me) i had the opportunity to go on a heli skiing trip with the Ski Journal at north cascades heli skiing out of Mazama, Washington. the snow conditions were bust as a rain event left us with a nice crust, but for my first time in a helicopter (besides being airlifted semi-conscious to the hospital!) it was pretty amazing. not to mention that it also happened to fall on my 23rd birthday...pretty sweet present if you ask me!

besides all that, i've been spending the majority of my time shooting and filming in the Northwest as there really hasn't been a reason to go elsewhere. while my segment with theory-3 media is looking pretty solid, Baker still has a 137 inch base and there are plenty of jump spots a short trek from the lot...filming or not that's definately where i'll be most weekends for the next month!

as for the summer, i just registered for classes at wwu the other day and have a mon-thurs schedule, which will hopefully allow some weekend excursions up north to ride the Blackcomb glacier before the end of july when everything wraps up and i have to wait until november!

hope all is well with you and yours!
